This is the standard United Kingdom Proof Set of the year, including the regular circulating coins plus (most of) the commemorative coins issued throughout the year.
The 2016 set includes the Queen's 90th Birthday Commemorative £5 (crown), plus an unprecedented number of commemorative £2 coins: three dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, one to the Great Fire of London and one to the British Army.
Apart from the "definitive" £1 of the Royal Shield type, there is also the "Last Round Pound" (the £1 denomination changed to 12-sided bimetallic coins later). Also included is the Battle of Hastings 50 pence.
The rest of the coins in the set are all the regular circulating coins, from the definitive Britannia-type £2 down to 1p.
The coins are struck in Proof FDC grade with frosted finish. The set also contains an oblong Royal Mint medal. |
