Platinum Tenth-Ounce (1/10 oz), Coin Type from United Kingdom (issued 2007 - )
Coin TypePlatinum Tenth-Ounce (1/10 oz)

Like many other mints, the Royal Mint issues bullion coins in precious metals, having much higher intrinsic value than their face value. The tenth-ounce (1/10 oz) platinum coins are denominated as Ten Pounds (£10).

The coins are legal tender, but are not intended for circulation. They are targeted at bullion investors or collectors who appreciate the special editions as pieces of art.

Coins of the Britannia type have been issued in gold since 1987 and in silver since 1997; platinum was added to the mix with special editions in 2007 and 2008, then in 2018 the Royal Mint started issuing the platinum tenth-ounce format as a regular bullion coin, using the "definitive" Standing Britannia design by Philip Nathan.
