Australia has two mints, the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint, which are both very active in the bullion coinage space; coins issued by them are legal tender.
Additionally, there are private issuers of bullion which is not legal tender and is targeted at investors and not at coin collectors - such as this one.
The Mint says about this Diwali 1oz Silver Gilded Medallion: This pure silver medallion featuring meticulously applied gilding is a superb gift idea for anyone celebrating the Hindu festival of Diwali
Symbolising the victory of light over darkness, Diwali is one of the world’s great festive occasions. Observed by millions of people around the globe, it is celebrated with lights in the form of candles and lamps, and the exchange of many gifts. In 2020, Diwali falls on 14 November |
