At centre inside a ring the Coat of Arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria (the second version: two ribbons under gear wheel at lion's feet, one with date 681 - foundation of Bulgaria, the other one 1944 - year of the communist revolution).

In 1981 only, the legend was changed to ХИЛЯДА И ТРИСТА ГОДИНИ БЪЛГАРИЯ (Хиляда и триста години България - Hilyada i trista godini Bulgaria, meaning One thousand and three hundred years [since the foundation of] Bulgaria), from the regular НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ (Народна Република България - Narodna Republika Bulgaria, People's Republic of Bulgaria).
