Coin | Gold Three Ounces 2024 World's Wildlife - The Peregrine Falcon |

The Democratic Republic of the Congo normally uses banknotes for circulation, and does not issue coins in the Congolese Franc currency. However, the country has authorised some foreign mints to issue commemorative and bullion coins under its jurisdiction.
Most of them are in internationally popular sizes, including the large three troy ounces of gold (3 oz) format - such as this coin.
This coin is part of the sixth release in the annual World's Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus).
The peregrine falcon is the most widespread bird of prey in the world. The bird, which is around 40 cm tall, has been used as a brilliant falconry bird by nomads in Central Asia. After the peregrine falcon population declined drastically in the 1970s, intensive conservation measures were taken, which fortunately proved successful. There are now around 1,200 pairs of peregrine falcons in Germany. Peregrine falcons mainly hunt other birds and are known for their rapid flight maneuvers - the bird of prey reaches a top speed of an impressive 250 km/h when hunting. |
