Silver Half Ounce 2022 Alien, Coin from Ghana - detailed information

Within a double rim featuring planetary decorations, the obverse of the coin shows at its centre the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

Normally, the initials of the designer Ian Rank-Broadley are below the neck truncation when this portrait of the Queen is used on coinage, but they are not displayed here.

Around above the effigy is the country legend and date of issue: REPUBLIC OF · GHANA 2022. Around below, the face value TWO CEDIS. Around left and around right, the precious metal content: 1/2 TROY OUNCE 999 FINE SILVER.

It is unclear why the Queen's effigy is shown, given that she was Queen of Ghana only until 1960, after which time the country became a republic.

The reverse design depicts a staring Alien ET (Extra-Terrestrial), "staring into your terrestrial soul as he summons himself through a stargate".

There is no inscription.

The coin was issued in a set, with four different versions of it contained in each set: one Brilliant Uncirculated with regular finish, one antique, one coloured proof and one coloured proof with Rhodium plating. The set has mintage of 1,000 - meaning 4,000 coins in total.

Also, 4,000 plain coins sold individually in capsules, with five capsule on a chipboard.
