Coin | Silver Two Ounces 2020 Wild Mongolia - Majestic Eagle |

|
The currency of Mongolia since 1925 has been the tögrög, which currently circulates mostly as banknotes due to the low value of earlier coins and the reluctance of the government to issue large denomination coins; however, the government has authorised many non-circulating legal tender (NCLT) coins to be issued for collector's purposes.
Collector coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes and are often not related to the country itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, including the large two ounces of silver format.
The Majestic Eagle is the first design in the Wild Mongolia collection by CIT.
The mint says about it: At the World Money Fair in Berlin earlier this year, we released the Majestic Eagle to showcase our newest smartminting technology. It was an instant success and was featured in many numismatic publications and sold out almost instantly. Numismatic experts and collectors alike were stunned by its beauty and technical specifications.
Following up on that success, CIT is proud to release a Black Proof version of this incredible design. This stunning 2 oz silver Black Proof features the same design that was released in Berlin, but done with a different finish that has become a very popular way to collect coins. What’s incredible about the finish is that it allows every single detail to still be seen in brilliant clarity. Everything from the individual feathers to the eagle’s glare staring at you in the background and the way the claw rips through the surface of the coin, it’s all there! |

Obverse | |
The obverse of the coin depicts the logo of Mongolbank (the Bank of Mongolia), which is formed as a round coin on a lotus bouquet associated with purity, delicacy and stability. Three fire flames and a blooming flower are located inside the coin. The figure symbolises eternal development and youth and the three flames represent the main national treasures. At the nominal value location the Soyombo symbol is positioned, representative of the Mongol ethnicity. There is a variation from the official logo: the name of the Central Bank of Mongolia is written below the figure as MongolBank in Latin script, and not as МонголБанк in Cyrillic which is the official script of the Mongolian language and the way the name is normally written on the logo.
On the two sides of the logo, vertically, the inscription Mongol Uls in the traditional Mongolian script.
Below the logo, on two lines the face value: 1000 TӨГРӨГ (one thousand Tögrög, alternatively spelled Tugrik).
Around below, the name of the issuing country and the metal content: MONGOLIA 2 oz .999 SILVER (two troy ounces of 99.9% silver).
The circle containing the logo and inscriptions is small and is in the upper half of the obverse. The rest of the design depicts eagle's claws holding an arrow, on a background of Mongolian-style geometric decorations; there's an effect of the claws having torn through the surface. The date of issue 2020 is hidden in the ornaments below left. |
