The surface of the reverse is divided into three concentric circular parts.
The outer rim is covered with Egyptian decorations.
The middle part is sand-coloured and shows twelve Egyptian deities representing the twelve months of the Egyptian calendar, grouped into 3 seasons, each season consisting of 4 months. The seasons and months are organised in clockwise direction, with the first season (of the Inundation/Flood) being at the bottom: - Season of the Inundation or Flood: Seth, Osiris, Amun-Ra, Sekhmet - Season of the Emergence: Horus, Isis, Geb, Mut - Season of the Harvest or Low Water: Bastet, Anubis, Thoth, Hapi.
In the central part, the Eye of Horus hieroglyph within a triangle whose corners are prolonged and divide the middle and outer part into three equal pieces, representing the three seasons of the calendar. Outside each side of the triangle is a names of one of the season, written in hieroglyphs. |
