Coin | One Dollar 2024 Australian Olympic Team |
---|
|
The one dollar coin circulating denomination (written as $1) was introduced in Australia in 1984, replacing the earlier banknotes. The original reverse design by Stuart Devlin featuring five kangaroos - known in Australia as the "Mob of Roos" design - has not been changed since its introduction.
The denomination is also used by both the Royal Australian Mint and the Perth Mint to issue an extensive range of collector coins, which are legal tender in Australia - such as this one.
This non-circulating coloured $1 (one dollar) coin was issued to mark the participation of the Australian Olympic Team in the summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
The mint says about it: Own a piece of sporting history with this $1 Coloured Uncirculated Coin celebrating the Australian Olympic Team’s prowess and the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics. During 16 days of fierce competition, Australians will unite and revel in cheering on their country at the first ever Olympics with an equal number of female and male competitors. |
