The Ten Schilling coin was the largest denomination of the Austrian Schilling which circulated as a regular coin; it was introduced in 1957 to replace an earlier banknote. The first type was in silver, which changed to copper-nickel plated nickel in 1974. The reverse of the copper-nickel type was designed by Ferdinand Welz (it continued from the silver version), and there was a new obverse by Kurt Bodlak. Austrian 10 Schilling coins issued in 1979 circulated for 23 years until the denomination was demonetised, together with all the other Schilling coinage, in 2002 when the country changed to the Euro currency. | ||||||
