Gold Ounce 2020 Albus Dumbledore, Coin from Niue - detailed information

Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - such as one ounce of gold (abbreviated as 1 oz Au, where "Au" comes from the Latin word for gold, Aurum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.

This coin is part of a New Zealand Mint series dedicated to characters from famous movies and features Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series of books and films.

The Mint says:
"Possibly the most powerful wizard of all time, Albus Dumbledore features on this beautifully engraved 1oz gold coin. On one side it shows a close up of the great wizard himself with wand in hand accompanied by his fiercely loyal Phoenix, Fawkes.

The legal tender status of the coin is confirmed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II effigy on the other side.

The coin is housed in a sturdy wooden coin case, ideal for display, which is placed inside a Harry Potter™-themed box showing the original coin image in colour. A Certificate of Authenticity, including the coin’s unique serial number, guarantees the pure quality of the gold and the limited mintage of 250 coins."
