Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - such as a quarter ounce of gold (abbreviated as 1/4 oz Au, where "Au" comes from the Latin word for gold, Aurum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
This coin is part of a New Zealand Mint series dedicated to characters from famous movies and features Dobby the House Elf from the Harry Potter series.

Loyal friend of Harry Potter, Dobby the House Elf is next to feature in our Harry Potter Classic Coin Collection. This beautifully engraved ¼ oz gold coin shows Dobby using his magic to apparate in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
On the opposite side, you will find the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, confirming the coin as legal tender. Packaged for display, the coin arrives in a quality wooden coin case inside a Harry Potter-themed box. The box shows the original coin image in colour.
Dobby is one of many characters to leave a lasting impact on fans. His death was especially heart-breaking, but now you can have the perfect memento of this brave House Elf. |

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.
In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).
Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II NIUE 25 DOLLARS 2021.
