The obverse of the coin is styled as a banknote and shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.
In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).
Horizontally near the rim above, the monarch's name ELIZABETH II; horizontally near the rim below, the name of the issuing country, NIUE.
The face value ONE DOLLAR is repeated above left and below right. Below left, the year of issue 2018. Above right, the metal content: 5 g Ag 999 (five grams of 99.9% silver).
In the background, a pattern of small Mickey Mouse-related images. |
