Apart from its regular circulating coinage, Solomon Islands has authorised a number of mints to issue collector coins in precious metals, which are legal tender in the country but are not intended for general circulation. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - including two ounces of silver (abbreviated as 2 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). These are usually dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to the country itself.
The 2oz Pure Silver Elephant of the First Chakra Coin is part of a series by PAMP Suisse based on the Seven Chakras by artist Phil Lewis.
The mint says about it: Ideologies of the chakras have existed for centuries and the depth of wisdom surrounding them is immense. Phil Lewis has based his artistic interpretations of each chakra in this series following a random order depending on what inspired him at a moment in time.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel”, which represents the energy flow within the body. It is believed that the energy flows from the top of the head to the bottom of the spine. The first Chakra, also known as “Muladhara” meaning “root”, is located at the base of the spine. If your root chakra is aligned you should feel grounded, secure, and centred. The first chakra is associated with the red colour, which symbolises the earth element. |
