Information about effigy: Royal Cypher of King Charles III

The Royal Cypher of King Charles III features the letters CR, with the Latin numeral III within the R; "C III R" is abbreviated from Charles III Rex, which means (in Latin) Charles the Third, King.

The cypher is crowned with the Tudor Crown - which was destroyed in the 1640s, but occasionally features on the effigies of British monarchs nevertheless (including on the crowned portrait of King Charles III).
