One Dollar 2023 Australian Citizenship, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown worn for her Coronation (effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait" worldwide but "Sixth Portrait" in Australia, where the Queen's portrait by Vladimir Gottwald was fifth).

The Queen also wears the Coronation Necklace; originally made for Queen Victoria in 1858, it was also worn at the coronations (as Queen's Consort) of Queen Alexandra in 1902, Queen Mary in 1911 and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen mother) in 1937.

Unlike on British coinage, the effigy is "uncouped" (includes the Queen's shoulders). In small letters on the left, the artist's initials JC (for Jody Clark).

Running continuously around the rim is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the face value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2023 · 1 DOLLAR ·.

The reverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of the Commonwealth of Australia, as granted by King George V by Royal Warrant on 19 September 1912. It is composed of a shield divided into six parts, each containing a representation of the badge of a State:
- New South Wales - the Cross of St George with lion and stars
- Victoria - the Southern Cross
- Queensland - a Maltese Cross and Crown
- South Australia - the Australian piping shrike bird
- Western Australia - a black swan
- Tasmania - a walking lion

The shield is supported by a kangaroo and an emu standing on a grassy mound accompanied by small branches of golden wattle. A seven-point gold Commonwealth Star sits above the shield. Six of the star’s points represent the Australian states and the seventh point represents the territories.

The P mint mark of the Perth Mint is to the right. In the background, floral decoration and a ribbon below the shield inscribed AUSTRALIA.

Around above and around below, the inscription reads AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP.
