The obverse of the coin displays the bust of King Charles III, which depicts him bare-headed (uncrowned) and wearing a suit and tie, facing left.

Below the shoulder truncation in tiny letters, the artist's initials DT (for Dan Thorne).

Around, the monarch's legend and the face value of the coin: CHARLES III AUSTRALIA · 1/2oz 9999 Ag 50 CENTS ·.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content. "1/2 oz 9999 Ag" means "one half of an ounce of 99.99% silver" - Ag is abbreviated from the Latin word for silver, Argentum.

The coloured reverse of the coin depicts "illustrations of a fluffy young kookaburra, kangaroo and koala".

Around above, the inscription CONGRATULATIONS. in the exergue, the date of issue 2024.
