|Coin||Silver Tenth-Ounce 2020 End of WWII|
The Australian tenth-ounce silver piece (abbreviated as 1/10 oz and designated with Ag for "silver") is a very small and not often used commemorative coin format with a face value of 10 cents.
In Australia there are two mints authorised to strike legal tender: the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint which only makes collector and bullion coins, as well as other bullion products. Both mints endeavour to create coins with attractive designs, and to introduce new designs and themes often, in order to raise the numismatic value of the coins over the value of previous metal used.
This coin is part of a Perth Mint series commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the End of World War Two (WWII).
The Mint says about it:
WWII was an international struggle that ended in 1945 following years of devastating battle and the deaths of an estimated 60 to 80 million soldiers and civilians. Seventy-five years on, the world stands ready to reflect upon the events of the War and acknowledge the enormity of the sacrifice and suffering it caused.

The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown and the Victoria Coronation necklace worn for her Coronation. This is her effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait" worldwide and "Sixth Portrait" in Australia, in "uncouped" version - showing the Queen's shoulders and not terminating at the neck as the normal version.
On the left, in small letters on the Queen's shoulder, the artist's initials J.C (for Jody Clark).
Running continuously around the rim is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the face value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1/10oz 9999 Ag 2020 10 CENTS.
The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content. "1/10 oz 9999 Ag" means "one tenth of a troy ounce of 99.99% silver" - Ag is abbreviated from the Latin word for silver, Argentum.
The reverse of the coin depicts a dove surrounded by a wreath.
Around above, the inscription END OF WORLD WAR II; around below, 75th ANNIVERSARY.
The Perth Mint's traditional P mint mark is on the left. The designer's initials LB (for Lucas Bowers) are in relief in tiny letters below right, on the leaves of the wreath.
