Apart from its regular circulating coinage, Fiji has authorised a number of private mints to issue collector coins in precious metals, which are legal tender in the country but are not intended for general circulation. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). These are usually made using innovative techniques and are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Fiji itself. This shaped and coloured silver one-ounce coin is the fourth issue in the Mini Fighters series of coins by LPM featuring Street Fighter characters, and shows Guile. Street Fighter is a game which was first released in 1987 by CAPCOM for arcades around the world, but it wasn't until Street Fighter II's release in 1991 that the series achieved a massive following. Street Fighter II was the first fighting game that allowed players to choose from a variety of fighters with their own unique moves and fighting styles. The character Ryu is the most recognised; other characters from Street Fighter II include E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, Dhalsim, Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M. Bison. | ||||||
