Notes | After the reunification of Germany on 29 September 1990, the city of Berlin became part of the Federal Republic of Germany and also became its capital; before that, the city (excluding West Berlin) was the capital of the German Democratic Republic, known as East Germany. This is the first year when the Berlin Mint struck Deutsche Mark coins in this denomination (it was issuing Eastern Marks before).
