Gold Ounce 2021 The Witcher - The Last Wish, Coin from Niue - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II NIUE 2021 50 DOLLARS 1 OZ 999.9 FINE GOLD.

The inscription also includes the precious metal content, one troy ounce of 99.99% gold.

The effigy and legend are in a small circle above. The rest of the surface is taken by symbols connected with the journey of Geralt and Dandelion in The Witcher - The Last Wish book.

The reverse of the coin features the famous scene of Geralt's fight with Sylvan named Torque - a humanoid, intelligent herbivore with goat's horns on its head, hairy legs with cloven hooves, and a tail with a tassel at the end. He was a spy working for the elves living in the Valley of Flowers, helping them to survive.

The Witcher coin series is produced (designed and marketed) by the Mint of Gdansk. The silver coins in the series are actually struck by the Mint of Poland and carry its mint mark. The gold coins have no mint mark though, so it is not clear which mint has made them.
