Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
The mint says about this coin: One of the most acclaimed and successful Disney films in recent years was Frozen. The film featured two sisters growing up in the Scandinavian kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa and Anna were close as young sisters, but spent years separated from each other as a result of Elsa’s secret powers.
Frozen tells the tale of sisters Anna and Elsa, who grow up as close as any two sisters can be in the kingdom of Arendelle. Though they suffer through some time of separate because of Elsa’s potentially dangerous powers, the sisters share a bond that is unbreakable and undeniable to any viewer of the film. Queen Elsa’s powers keep her level-headed throughout the film, while the fearless Princess Anna will do anything to protect her sister and her family. |
