Silver Ounce 2017 Star Wars - 40th Anniversary, Coin from Niue - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows at its centre the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In tiny letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Above the effigy is the monarch's legend, on two lines separated by a horizontal line: ELIZABETH II NIUE. Below the effigy, also on two lines separated by a horizontal line, the face value and date of issue: 2017 2 DOLLARS.

The reverse is coloured and features a replica image of the original poster for the 1977 film Star Wars - A New Hope, with the inscription on top reading A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..., and the 40 STAR WARS anniversary logo below.
