Gold Ounce 2022 Icon - Marilyn Monroe, Coin from Tokelau - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: TOKELAU 100 DOLLARS 2022 1 OZ FINE GOLD ELIZABETH II.

The inscription also includes the metal content - one troy ounce of gold.

The background is patterned with fine dots; the rim features a series of concentric circles made up of dots in diminishing sizes. The date of issue 2022 is divided by the portrait. Divided year of issue is one of the distinguishing features of the historical Pressburg Mint, after which the modern mint is named.

The reverse design consists entirely of a textured surface of thin lines. These display a latent image of American actress Marilyn Monroe, and the word ICON.
