The Tuvaluan Dollar is the currency of Tuvalu - a small nation in the Pacific Ocean. Tuvalu has never had banknotes of its own, and has been issuing coins since 1976; these circulate together with coins of the Australian Dollar, which is also legal tender in the country, and to which the Tuvaluan Dollar is pegged.

The Australian Perth Mint issues a large variety of non-circulating legal tender coins under the authority of Tuvalu. Some of these are in the silver ounce format (abbreviated as 1 oz). In 2025 the lunar calendar marks the Year of the Snake. According to tradition, the snake finished sixth in the Emperor’s "Great Race" and subsequently it has represented every sixth year in the 12-year lunar cycle.

Wise, intelligent, independent, and charming, the snake is said to bestow many positive characteristics on people born during its years of influence - including 2025, 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965 and 1953.
