A crown is a 5 shillings coin. Struck as part of a new coinage introduced for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, 1837-1893. The coins all shared a new obverse of the Queen known as the veiled head. The edge inscription reads "DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI LXI" (A decoration and a guard. Regnal year 61.) or "DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI LXII" (Regnal year 62). | ||||||||||||
