Bare head of King George V facing left; below on neck truncation in small letters, the designer's initials B.M. (for Bertram MacKennal); around, the legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX (George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains).

Reverse

At centre within a circle made of roses and thistles joined by pairs of smaller shamrocks, a crown; above divided by the cross on top of the crown, the date 1927; around above, the rest of the monarch's legend: FID · DEF · IND · IMP · (Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India); around below divided by a rose, CROWN.

In tiny letters to the right of the bottom rose, the designer's initials K·G· (for [George] Kruger Gray).
