Coin | Proof Medal 2021 - Premium |
---|
|
Medals are a form of "exonumia" - objects related to coinage but not coins themselves. Such are, for example, the medals included in many Royal Mint proof sets. They do not have any "face value" and are not tokens either, but can still be of interest to coin collectors.
This medal, described as a "Base Proof Medal" on the Royal Mint's web site, was included with The 2021 United Kingdom Premium Proof Coin Set. Just like the coins in the set, it is in Proof grade. |

Notes | Due to an error, in the first sets released early in the year the base pad within the box contains 13 spaces instead of 14. Instead of delaying pending orders, the Royal Mint sent the sets with 13 coins inside - and an additional box for the medal. A replacement pad was later sent out to all buyers. However, some of them may have not replaced the pads, so there could be sets with 13 coins and no medal, and a separate boxed medal. |
