Gold Kilo 2013 Road Sign - Kangaroo, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2013 3000 DOLLARS.

The portrait and inscriptions are enclosed in an octagon (eight-sided shape).

Within an octagon rim, the reverse shows a diamond-shaped road sign with a leaping kangaroo, as seen on the roads of Australia to alert drivers for kangaroos potentially crossing the road.

Above right, the five stars of the Southern Cross constellation, a symbol of Australia which appears on the country's flag.

Diagonally below left, the precious metal content 1 kg .9999 Au (one kilogram of 99.99% gold).

Below right, the WP monogram of the designer, Wojciech Pietranik.
