The Cook Islands, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar circulates in parallel with the local Cook Islands Dollar; at the same time, the government also authorises many legal tender coins in the Cook Islands Dollar currency for collector's purposes. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, including one ounce of silver - such as this coin.
This coin is part of the Magnificent Life collection by CIT Coin Invest.
The Mint says about it: Inspired by famous animal photographer Tim Flach, the 2019 edition of this series is dedicated to the Philippine eagle. This majestic predator makes its home in the Philippine rainforest. Hardly visible from the ground, its kingdom is up in the treetops at heights reaching 50 m and can easily cover an area of 50m2. This species was discovered in 1896 and its extraordinary wide wings allow to easily move through the jungle trees. Unfortunately this magnificent creature is listed as one of the twelve most endangered species with a current population of only 200-400 individuals.
The three-dimensional smartminting© relief combined with a concave shape generates the impression of an outstanding beak. A glossy finish of the eagle eyes are a highlight of this partially coloured coin and will give you a thrill once you look at it. |
