The Cook Islands, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar circulates in parallel with the local Cook Islands Dollar; at the same time, the government also authorises many legal tender coins in the Cook Islands Dollar currency for collector's purposes. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, including one ounce of silver - such as this coin.
This coin is one of the two coins in the CeCo Edition (ceramic coins, or ceramic coating?), and features an innovative ceramic coating.
Allcollect says about it: For several years, we have been trying to produce a coin with ceramic coating. It took us this long because ceramic is not an easy raw material to work with. It requires high levels of heat to get a smooth surface. We have now reached a level where we can produce fully or partially ceramic covered coins, whichever is required.
This 1oz 9999 silver coin is finished with real ceramic particles, and the result is a premium-quality combination of matt ceramic and various, brilliant precious metals! |
