Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Celebrate 90 years of the beloved Disney character Goofy with this pure 1/4oz gold coin! Introduced in the 1932 animated short called Mickey’s Revue, Goofy is known as a fun-loving, loyal, and goofy (hence the name) feller.

This special piece shows a detailed engraving of Goofy and his grasshopper friend, Wilbur from the cartoon Goofy and Wilbur against a beautiful mirror finish background. As legal tender, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II can be found on the obverse.

Officially licensed, the coin is placed in a quality display case inside a high-quality 90th anniversary Goofy themed box. A Certificate of Authenticity is also provided, which shows the coin’s unique number in the mintage.
