Silver Ounce 2020 Star Wars - Praetorian Guard, Coin from Niue - detailed information

Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous famous movie characters.

This coin is part of the New Zealand Mint's Guards Of The Empire coin series dedicated to characters from the Star Wars films.

The Mint says about it:
"The personal sentinels of Supreme Leader Snoke, the Praetorian Guard, feature in our officially licensed Guards of the Empire Silver Coin Collection

The coin shows four Guards, one from each pair. At the forefront, one Guard is shown in full colour with his striking crimson red armour. The engraved background shows three more warriors protecting Supreme Leader Snoke.

This rectangular, 1oz pure silver coin incorporates the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and an antique finish to add to the menacing feel. Packaged in a Star Wars™ branded box, the coin is kept safe inside an acrylic holder which allows easy access and display. A Certificate of Authenticity is placed inside the box which confirms it as pure silver and shows its unique number in the limited 2,000-coin mintage."
