Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
The Mint says about this coin: Our 2022 Harry Potter Season’s Greetings 1oz pure silver coin features images of Christmas in The Great Hall in the Hogwarts Castle. Engraved around it are the four Harry Potter house crests and the words "Happy Christmas" printed underneath. The design includes a mirror-like background and a mix of frosting to further enhance the magic. To confirm the coins legal tender, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll is featured on the obverse.
Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, this coin arrives in book-like packaging which incorporates a stunning icy-cool design, featuring Harry’s snowy owl, Hedwig - very reminiscent of winter. Inside, the coin is protected by a unique bauble-shaped coin case complete with ribbon - ready to be hung on the tree! Printed inside is the Certificate of Authenticity and the coins unique serial number in the mintage of 2,022 - a reflection of the year of issue. |
