Coin | Gold Ounce 2025 James Bond - 1980s, Bullion |

Like many other mints, the Royal Mint issues bullion coins in precious metals, having much higher intrinsic value than their face value. The one ounce (1 oz) gold coins are denominated as One Hundred Pounds (£100).
The coins are legal tender but are not intended for circulation. They are targeted at bullion investors or collectors who appreciate the special editions as pieces of art. The coins are typically "one-year" types usually issued in parallel with smaller denominations with the same reverse designs.
This bullion one-ounce gold coin is part of the third out of seven releases marking six decades of James Bond films, and is dedicated to those released in the 1980s.
The mint says about it: "Honouring Six Decades of 007, Britain’s best-loved secret agent appears again on a bullion coin. The third Bullion coin in the Six Decades of 007 Collection features the memorable Bede BD-5J Acrostar microjet that notably appears in the opening sequence of Octopussy. A timeless investment with enduring appeal, the Bond Films of the 1980s minted Bullion coin is available as fine gold and silver editions enhanced with special finishes, allowing you to connect with this beloved brand and experience the world of 007 for yourself."
The series was designed by Matthew Dent and Christian Davies, who also designed an earlier James Bond range issued by the Royal Mint between 2020 and 2022 (on coins and non-legal tender bullion). |
