The obverse of the coin displays the first definitive portrait of King Charles III, which shows his bare (uncrowned) head facing left.

Below the neck truncation in tiny letters, the artist's initials MJ (for Martin Jennings).

Around, the monarch's legend followed by the face value: CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 100 POUNDS ·. Translated from Latin, the legend means: Charles the Third, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.

The obverse has a textured background ("guilloche" geometric pattern).

At centre, the reverse of the coin depicts the Saint George on horseback fighting the dragon, attacking to left. The saint is armoured in the style of a Medieval knight, with a plumed helmet with drawn visor obscuring the upper half of his face; behind his head, a halo. He holds a lance which has pierced the fallen dragon, and a small shield carrying a cross. On his belt, a long sword.

Below the dragon on the right, the designer's initials KG, for [George] Kruger Gray. Above right, the date of issue 2025.

The background is patterned with micro-dots.

Repeated multiple times around the rim in microtext, the inscription 1 OZ . FINE GOLD . 999.9 . 2024 . (one troy ounce of 99.99% gold, issued in 2025).
