Silver Ounce 2023 King Charles III Coronation, Coin from Cameroon - detailed information

Within a beaded border, the obverse of the coin displays the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom; below the neck truncation, the designer's initials IRB (for IanRank Broadley)

Given that Cameroon has been a republic since it gained independence in 1960, it is unclear why the Queen's effigy is displayed on the coin (not to mention that she died in 2022).

Below it, a small Coat of Arms of the Republic of Cameroon. It features a shield divided in three parts by two diagonal lines; in the central section, an upright sword and scales are superimposed on the outline of the map of the country, above which there is a five-pointed star. Behind the shield, two crossed bundles of rods with axes in the middle. Around above, the motto PAIX TRAVAIL PATRIE in French; in small letters below these, the same in English: PEACE WORK FATHERLAND.

Around the rim, above: ELIZABETH II · 1.000 FRANCS CFA 2022 (one thousand Central African CFA Francs).

Around below, divided by the Coat of Arms, the name of the country in English: · REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON ·.

The reverse design features two portraits facing each other; in an oval on the left, King Charles III; in oval on the right, the Queen Consort. Above the portraits, the Crown of Saint Edward, which has traditionally been used to crown English and British monarchs at their coronations since the 13th century (with a two-century gap between 1689 and 1911).

Around above, the inscription CORONATION OF CHARLES III & CAMILLA. On two lines below the portrait, the date of the coronation: MAY 6 2023.
