Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of coins under the authority of Niue. Most of these are commemorative and collector issues dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, including a large five ounces of silver format (abbreviated as 5 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Those issued at prices much higher than their bullion value are separately listed in the Non-Circulating Legal Tender (NCLT) silver five ounces section of the site.
Unlike them, this coin is targeted at bullion investors and was initially released at a price close to the value of its precious metal content.
This coin is part of the legal tender bullion coin Truth Series by Sunshine Minting, US (called Sunshine Mint by most dealers).
The company says about it:
The reverse design features the crowned Roaring Lion, identified as the Lion of Judah by the Aleph Tav Symbol (את ) on the crown: The strength of the Leader is the Sign of the Covenant. A notable feature of this series is the hidden “truth” included on every coin, which changes each year. The Roaring Lion is released earlier in the year and features the first part of the Truth, with the other coins in the series completing a quote from the Bible. For the 2024 release, the Roaring Lion has a message that reads “Stand Firm Then”, which has been micro-engraved onto the front of the crown on the Lion's head. When put together with the other three designs of the 2024 Truth series, they create the Bible verse Ephesians 6:14. |

The obverse of the coin features the official Public Seal of Niue.
It has an inner circle of hiapo designs, representing the fonua (land), within which are stylised designs of a tree, representing life and tagata Niue (the people of Niue), surrounded by an outer circle in the form of a traditional Niuean garland of 14 seashells (representing the 14 villages of Niue), and crowned with St Edward's Crown (of the United Kingdom), representing the sovereign as head of state.
Around above between the two circles, the inscription PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE. Below, a ribbon carries the motto ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI on two lines (meaning "God, Niue Eternally"), below which two crossed katoua (Niue fighting clubs).

The reverse of the coin depicts the head of a majestic roaring lion.
On a diadem (or crown) on its head: את (א - Aleph, is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet, and ת - Tav, is the last; the inscription is in Hebrew so reads from right to left). The Aleph Tav is a symbol representative of both the covenant's leader and the unity of Judah's descendants.
At the base of the diadem, a micro-engraved inscription reads STAND FIRM THEN.
The lion is surrounded by a decorative reflective floral pattern; the background is frosted.
