Silver Kilo 2022 Queen Elizabeth II, Coin from Niue - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: NIUE 2022 80 Dollars ELIZABETH II Ag .999 1000g.

The inscription also includes the precious metal content; Ag .999 1000g means "one kilogram of 99.9% silver" - "Ag" is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver.

The reverse shows each of the five definitive portraits of Queen Elizabeth II which have been used on regular coinage of the United Kingdom, creating a time-line effect - with the most recent portrait of the Queen on the left, in a line receding to her youngest portrait on the right. Below each portrait there is the date of its release in the UK.

(The Machin portrait was used in Canada since 1965, and in Australia, the Bahamas and New Zealand since 1967.)

Above the portraits, the Crown of Saint Edward, which is gold plated. Below the portraits, an English rose.

Around left, the inscription HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II; around right, the dates of her reign: 6 February 1952 - 8 September 2022.

The background is decorated with a fine geometric pattern. The value, denomination and date are on the obverse.
