Silver Ounce 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation, Coin from Tokelau - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II TOKELAU 2023 5 DOLLARS 1oz 999 Ag.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content - one troy ounce of 99.9% silver; Ag is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver.

Below the portrait is a representation of the national flag of Tokelau.

The reverse design shows a portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II in profile, during her coronation ceremony. She is depicted with crown, sceptre and orb.

In the background, a stained glass window from the Westminster Abbey is selectively plated with pink gold.

Around left, the inscription QUEEN ELIZABETH II. Above, the Royal Cypher E II R (abbreviated from Elizabeth II Regina - Elizabeth the Second, Queen).
