Gold Ounce 2020 Year of the Mouse, High Relief, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown and the Victoria Coronation necklace worn for her Coronation. This is her effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait" worldwide and "Sixth Portrait" in Australia, in "uncouped" version - showing the Queen's shoulders and not terminating at the neck as the normal version.

On the left, in small letters on the Queen's shoulder, the artist's initials J.C (for Jody Clark).

Running continuously around the rim is the monarch's legend and the face value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1oz 9999 Au 100 DOLLARS.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content. "1 oz 9999 Au" means "one troy ounce of 99.99% gold" - Au is abbreviated from the Latin word for gold, Aurum.

The reverse design portrays a mouse among stalks of wheat.

Above left, the Chinese character for "mouse" (or "rat:), 鼠, below which the inscription MOUSE 2020.

The Perth Mint P mint mark is on the left. The designer's initials IJ (for Ing Ing Jong) are below right, at the base of a wheat leaf.

The coin is presented in a prestigious red display case with a magnetic lid. Adorned with gold lettering and a geometric design, the case is packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. When arranged together, this and the shippers of future coins in Australian Lunar Series III will form a diorama depicting the ancient myth of The Great Race involving all 12 animals in the zodiac.

The coin is thicker and with a smaller diameter than the bullion gold ounce with the same design.
