Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
The Mint says about this coin: The Emperor is card number Four in the emblematic Tarot cards known as the Major Arcana. This unique 1oz pure silver coin has been coloured, engraved, and shaped to mirror a Tarot card.
The obverse of the coin has a striking engraved border around the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It arrives inside attractive, custom-made packaging which opens like a book to reveal the coin. A Certificate of Authenticity is printed beneath the coin, confirming it as legal tender in Niue. A holographic sticker also confirms the coin’s unique number in the mintage of just 2,000. Printed on the inside front cover is the meaning behind the Tarot card enclosed.
The Emperor is said to be wise and powerful in his ways. He uses his power and organisation to accomplish goals. |
