Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
The Mint says about this coin: Embrace the beauty of solitude with this 1oz pure silver coin. It is inspired by The Hermit, which is numbered Nine in the emblematic Tarot Cards collection, known as the Major Arcana.
Shaped like a Tarot card, depicted here is a man holding a lantern in full colour. The mountains next to him have been frosted to impart a beautiful, crystallised appearance, which contrasts wonderfully against the mirror finish frame. Engravings of "The Hermit" add extra charm. On the obverse is a border design engraved with stunning detail, which encompasses the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - confirming it is legal tender.
The coin is housed in an acrylic capsule for easy carrying and is stored inside a secure box. Around it features elegant Tarot-themed imagery. On the back are a Certificate of Authenticity and the unique serial number in the mintage of 2,000. The meaning of the card is shown on the inside front cover.
The Hermit encourages you to reflect on your deepest feelings and needs by taking a period of withdrawal. Through self-reflection, you will be able to hear the whispers of your heart and learn the true direction your life should take. |
