Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. This coin is struck in a unique shape to replicate a detailed replica of the “T.Rex Zone” road sign damaged by the T.Rex claw, featured in the Jurassic World Dominion film. The coin’s surface has been "antiqued" by hand to give it a unique finish.

"Jurassic World" is the fourth instalment of the famous Jurassic Park film series and was released in 2015. The film is set 22 years after the events in Jurassic Park and is about a luxury resort that allows to get up close and personal with the prehistoric giants.
