Coin | Silver Ounce 2022 Prehistoric Life - Parasaurolophus |

The Democratic Republic of the Congo normally uses banknotes for circulation, and does not issue coins in the Congolese Franc currency. However, the country has authorised some foreign mints to issue commemorative and bullion coins under its jurisdiction.
Most of them are in standard bullion sizes, including one ounce of silver - such as this coin.
This coin is the ninth issue in the Prehistoric Life series of premium bullion and collector coins, and features the Parasaurolophus.
The Parasaurolophus belongs to the group of ornithopod dinosaurs Hadrosauridae and lived during the Upper Cretaceous, in what is now North America. The dinosaur is easily recognized by its backward bone comb and could reach a weight of up to 5 tons. Their unusual appearance, two long hind legs and two short front legs, helped them escape from predators and enemies. In addition, they possessed a great resemblance to ducks, due to the shape of their beak. Parasaurolophus were considered calm herbivores, whose biggest predators were the tyrannosaurus Gorgosaurus and the crocodile Deinosuchus. |
