Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
This coloured rectangular coin is the fourth release in the Spider-Man Villains series by the New Zealand Mint portraying characters from Marvel comics, and features Vulture.
Kingpin, also known as Wilson Fisk, is a fictional character from Marvel Comics who first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #50" in 1967. Fisk is a powerful and influential criminal who is often referred to as the “Kingpin” of New York City's underworld. Known for his immense physical strength and strategic intelligence, he is one of the most dangerous adversaries of many Marvel heroes. Although he has no superpowers, his sheer physical strength is impressive and often takes his opponents by surprise. Kingpin is particularly notorious for his clashes with Spider-Man and Daredevil. His criminal empire includes a variety of illegal activities such as drug trafficking, extortion and money laundering. Despite his criminal activities, he often presents himself as a respectable businessman and philanthropist, making him an elusive threat in the public eye. This dual identity as a businessman and crime kingpin allows him to use both legal and illegal means to achieve his goals. |
