Gold Two Ounces 2021 Platinum Jubilee, Coin from Solomon Islands - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II · 2021 · SOLOMON ISLANDS · TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS ·.

At its centre, the reverse of the coin features the Royal cypher E II R (from Elizabeth II Regina - in Latin, Elizabeth the Second, Queen). The cypher is surmounted by a diadem and not the St Edward's Crown as it is usually represented. It is surrounded by a floral motif, and a cruciform made of the national flowers of the four constituent nations of the United Kingdom: clockwise from top, rose, shamrock, thistle and daffodil, for England, North Ireland, Scotland and Wales respectively.

Repeated twice around the rim (with both inscriptions facing down), the text THE EXTRAORDINARY REIGN OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II.

The value and denomination, as well as the date of issue, are on the obverse.
