Gold Ounce 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee, Coin from Tokelau - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: 100 DOLLARS · 2022 TOKELAU · ELIZABETH II · 1oz 9999 GOLD.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content - one troy ounce of 99.99% gold.

Below the portrait is a representation of the national flag of Tokelau.

Within an ornate rim, the reverse design shows a crowned portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II, which is surrounded by various royal symbols as well as the national symbols of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom - rose (England), shamrock (Northern Ireland), thistle (Scotland) and leek (Wales).

Above the portrait, Saint Edward's Crown.

In a ribbon below the portrait, the inscriptions QUEEN ELIZABETH II; around below near the rim, PLATINUM JUBILEE. The distinctive feature of this coin is the real sapphire set into the reverse, between the words PLATINUM and Jubilee. The blue gemstone has always been of great importance for kings and aristocrats and is considered a symbol of royalty.
