Silver Five Ounces 2021 Year of the Ox, High Relief, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown and the Victoria Coronation necklace worn for her Coronation. This is her effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait" worldwide and "Sixth Portrait" in Australia, in "uncouped" version - showing the Queen's shoulders and not terminating at the neck as the normal version.

On the left, in small letters on the Queen's shoulder, the artist's initials J.C (for Jody Clark).

Running continuously around the rim is the monarch's legend and the face value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 5oz 9999 Ag 8 DOLLARS.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content. "5 oz 9999 Ag" means "five ounce of 99.99% silver" - Ag is abbreviated from the Latin word for silver, Argentum.

The reverse of the coin "portrays a charming image of an ox and its calf with a cherry blossom tree, a symbol of love and beauty"; they are on a lake shore, with a Chinese mountain rural landscape behind.

Above left, the Chinese character for "ox" 牛 (pronounced niú under the Pinyin system) and, below that, OX and 2021.

The mint mark P of the Perth Mint is below right.

The face value and the precious metal content are on the obverse.

Packaging: in display case with a clear lid and an illustrated shipper. When aligned with the previous Year of the Mouse shipper and future shippers from the series, the illustration forms a diorama depicting all 12 animals in the order the finished The Great Race, a traditional Chinese story about the creation of the lunar calendar.
