Silver Ounce (x4) 2021 Year of the Ox Quadrant, Coin from Tuvalu - detailed information

The obverse of each coin shows at its centre the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In tiny letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Above the effigy, on two lines the inscription 2021 ELIZABETH II. Around below, 1 oz 9999 Ag TUVALU 1 DOLLAR; "1 oz Ag" means "one troy ounce of silver" - Ag is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver.

The four legal tender pieces in the set each show one quadrant of a coloured composition portraying: an ox ploughing a field with mountains in the background; a pair of oxen and a dragonfly in front of a tree; an adult ox standing on grass with a dragonfly and a calf laying on the grass. Together they form a single composition comprising an appealing mix of superbly coloured and struck elements.

Additionally, the reverse of each coin incorporates the Perth Mint’s P mint mark, and the designer's initials IJ (Ing Ing Jong).

There are no inscriptions.
